What Are You Wearing on Your Summer Travels? Or, Kicking Off This Fashion Blog My Way

I’m so excited to publish my first fashion blog! I have wanted to do this for so long, but various things kept me from diving all in––mainly fear. I’m here now and excited to share my love of fashion and personal style with you all. I love the old and the new, rummaging through thrift store racks, finding great deals at department stores and following exciting trends in the industry. I would love for you to follow along with me. So, here we go!

Where are your summer travels taking you? I’m getting mediterranean vibes. Or, maybe Morocco …

I’m kicking my blog off with some items I picked up from Nordstrom’s a couple of months ago. I’ve been waiting for the weather to warm up so I can finally wear them!

Here are a few essentials for my summer suitcase:

  • Oversized sunglasses
  • breezy cotton tops
  • white jeans
  • wedge sandals
  • a crossbody bag.

These Chloe sunglasses are just so much fun. I scored mine for $69.99 from Gilt.com, one of my favorite places to scour the luxury markets. Unfortunately, this color is no longer available. You can find it in other colors, or click the link in the caption and purchase from BellaOchio for $98.00.

Chloé Women’s CE720S 56mm Sunglasses 303 in Khaki
and Patchwork Quilt Smocked Mock Neck Top

How do you feel about smocking?

This top from Madewell ($78 at Nordstrom’s) has so much going on, I honestly wasn’t sure about it until I tried it on. The cotton fabric is light and airy, perfect for muggy, southern summers (or a trek out to the casbah)! The quilted pattern is eye catching, yet understated in this lovely Marrakech purple. The smocking around the neckline adds a delicate, feminine detail I did not expect.

Want to know a secret? Pull the smocked neckline down over your shoulders and it becomes a cute off-the-shoulder number.

Joe’s Flawless Honey Curvy High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans

Who says you can’t wear white before Memorial Day?

Let’s do away with generic fashion rules, here, shall we? Wear whatever you want. These Joe’s skinny jeans are … everything. What else is there to say? Perfect fit, soft feel, so comfortable. $188 at Nordstroms. These quickly became my favorite jeans in the closet.

Chloe Faye Small Suede & Leather Bracelet Bag

Crossbody bags and bracelet bags are everywhere right now.

They aren’t just a trend! These small bags are a must for travel. I chose this Chloe Faye bracelet bag ($890 at Nordstrom’s) in the more neutral cloudy blue. The other option was red. The muted tone looks okay with most other colors, so I did not have any problem pairing it with my outfits.

I love this crossbody bracelet bag because it is flat. This is an important detail when walking through crowded spaces! It is large enough to fit the essentials, which makes it perfect for traveling. I hate going places with a big handbag (there is never room to put it in the car beside me) and often a crossbody bag is still bulky enough to make the people I walk by think I’m picking a fight.

I recently took this bag on a road trip and it was probably my favorite companion. (Just kidding, my family was with me. Shhh! Don’t tell them I said that!)

Jeffrey Campbell Novalie Wedge Sandal

Summer wedges are essential gear.

I may not be able to do much long distance walking in them, but I love these Jeffrey Campbell Novalie wedge sandals. They’re perfect for a day browsing foreign markets. This color is called natural leather, but is a little peachy. It pairs well with a lot of summer colors. I can not find them on the Nordstrom website anymore, but I found a similar Jeffrey Campbell style on Poshmark from @emma_red_rose. If you have not yet joined Poshmark and sign up after reading, mention me (@curiope) as your referral code for $5 credit on your first purchase.

If you have stuck with me this long, thank you!

I had fun styling this look and hope to be here often. I plan on covering emerging designers, slow fashion and I also love thrifting, which I will talk about frequently. You can find my own Poshmark closet here @curiope. If you follow me long enough, you may even find these items in my Poshmark closet someday. Cheers!

XOXO
